"Opening minds, Opening doors" inclusion training
This course was originally developed by parents and carers in Buckinghamshire, where it has been very well received. Funding from Cambridgeshire County Council has allowed us to develop the course in Cambridgeshire, and, for a limited time, to provide the training free of charge to childminders and other childcare activity providers.
This bite-sized course is delivered by parents of disabled children and is aimed at helping organisations providing childcare and other activities for children and young people make their services more accessible to disabled children and young people.
We are offered 3 free open sessions during December 2011-March 2012. Check for dates and venues on our events page.
This is some of the feedback recieved from people who attended the course:
- "I thought the course and trainers [were] excellent, all childminders should have to do the course."
- "Everybody should do this sort of course even once in [their] life."
- " I am really pleased to have given up my Saturday morning for this course. I will be encouraging other childminders in my area of St Ives to attend any other courses you put on!"
- "Thought provoking, especially...using quotes from children."
- "Course made you realise how much...parents with disabled children needed help and for childminders to be more accessible and not be scared of unknown."
- "Can't be improved on, excellent."
