Timely Information to Citizens "TIC-talk"

pinpoint has been involved in a successful bid with Cambridgeshire County Council to improve the way information is provided to families of disabled children. This is a one year pilot, and is part of a national project called Timely Information to Citizens. We were one of only 10 successful first round bids!

As part of this project, we have money to develop the pinpoint website from the old 'static' one to this new, more interactive website. We will be trying out some clever web tools to see how they can be used to help small parent-led organisations like pinpoint interact with some of the big players like Cambridgeshire County Council to provide better information to parents of disabled children.

We are looking at ways of:

  • allowing parents to add comments and 'star rate' groups and activities to help other families find an activity that suits their child's needs (and avoid potentially upsetting and costly mistakes)
  • getting affordable news feeds that will help keep parents informed of local and national developments
  • run online parent networks (forums)
  • re-using information already available on other websites to make it available to parents through the pinpoint website
  • making sure we can afford to keep the website going
The website is being developed by accessibility specialists Meerkat Web Services so that everyone can use it.

Families have been involved right from the start in deciding what should go on the website.
