Time:6.30pm-9.00pm

Where:The Cricket Pavillion, Cambourne

Who should attend?

Further information

These informal meetings are for parents and carers of children and young people with additional needs or a disability. There is a network meeting in each of the 5 Cambridgeshire districts: Cambridge City; East Cambs; Fenland; Hunts; and South Cambs. The meetings are facilitated by a pinpoint representative, who is a parent.

*The first hour of these meetings is for parents and carers only. Guests and speakers are invited to join us for the 'hot topic' session from 7.30pm-9pm.

The network meetings are an opportunity for parents and carers to meet others in a similar situation to share experiences and information. They are also an opportunity for parents to talk about their issues and concerns - what's working well, what's not working well - and to raise these directly with service providers. At each meeting, we also have some 'hot topic' discussions with managers of services and organisations providing support to families.

This term's hot topics

  • What is the future for short breaks - will your support be affected by recent budget cuts? (with an Aiming High team representative)
  • Support to get back into training and employment - your right to access childcare (with Denis Green from the DCATCH project)
  • A new voice for parents on SEN issues - the LA's proposals for improving communication with parents (with a representative from the SEN team)
  • Finding it hard to access mainstream activities? - How Action for Children can help you and your family (with Action for Children)
  • Is the Children's Trust listening to parents? - Meet your Children's Trust Participation Advisory Group representative
  • Helping families get better support in hospital - NEW! passport developed by parents and young people (with a representative from the Addenbrooke's passport action group)

Check with your local network facilitator and read our weekly e-newsletters for up-to-date information on which speakers are attending which events. Parents are welcome to attend any events they want to, and can attend for all or part of the time.

NEW! FREE creche is available for the first time at the Huntingdon and Wisbech meetings. We are delighted to be working with the CamPlay team to provide creche facilities for the first time. This is a trial, and whether it continues will depend on uptake. Places are limited (particularly in Huntingdon due to the size of room available) so book early to avoid disappointment. The creche is to allow parents to attend the pinpoint network meeting and parents must stay on site at all times whilst their child is in the creche. All bookings must be received by 13 March latest, and places will be offered on a first come, first served basis. For more information and to book your creche place phone Gemma on 01480 379817.
