Disabled Children's Action Group
NOTE - this Group was previously known as the EDCM Strategy Group, then the Disabled Children's Strategy Group, and has now been renamed the Disabled Children's Action Group (November 2011).
The EDCM Strategy Group is a multi-agency group. The aims and objectives of the Group are to:
-
ensure that the Cambridgeshire implementation of Aiming High meets the full requirements of DCSF (Department for Children, Schools and Families);
-
meet key requirements of the Every Disabled Child Matters Local Authority Charter through the implementation of Aiming High;
-
ensure that the implementation of Aiming High is consistent with other strategic initiatives to support disabled children, young people and their families;
-
ensure that existing ‘short break’ provision is fit for purpose and is configured in a way that achieves the best possible outcomes for disabled children, young people and their families; and
-
bring together different funding streams that are intended to support disabled children, young people and their families including: Childcare sufficiency funding under the Children Act 2006; Access funding to support Access to Early Years settings and after schools clubs; funding to support Extended Services; Child in Need Funding held within Social Care; and Primary Care Trust (PCT) funding.
pinpoint is represented on the EDCM Strategy Group. We report to this Group on the parent and carer participation work they contract us to deliver.We are looking at effective ways to keep parents informed about the work of this Group. The Group produces a lot of paperwork which we have sometimes found hard to understand well enough to share key points with you, and large documents which are difficult to email or download.There will be a public website page where all non-confidential EDCM Strategy Group papers will be made available for parents to read and download. We will add a link to this website as soon as it is available, and this will mean we can give you feedback reports which link directly to the EDCM Strategy Group agendas. We hope this will make it easier for parents to follow the work of this important strategic decision-making group, and to get involved in the decision-making process.In the meantime, if you have any questions please email Lynn or phone/text 0751 741 9761.
