Parenting Project Board

The Parent support strategy was written after consultation with over 1300 parents in Cambridgeshire and was based on what they said about their support needs. The Parenting Project Board has overall responsibility for implementing the strategy and action plan. They have developed their own action plan which links to the actions in the strategy.

Here are some of the ways they have listened:

  • separated the Parental involvement strategy from the Parenting support strategy
  • appointed a person with responsibility for parental involvement
  • supported the development of the pinpoint website to provide an independent source of information for parents of children with special needs or a disability
  • focused on developing parenting courses on behaviour management
  • allocated resources to begin implementing the model for involving parents in strategic decision-making for all parents - including setting up a county-wide parent advisory group
  • involved parents in developing the Family Information Service
  • drafted a commissioning plan which responds to what parents and carers said about their support needs

We are looking at effective ways of feeding back how the Parenting Project Board is listening to parents. In the meantime, email Lynn if you would like to know more.
