Ofsted report on Cambridgeshire's safeguarding and looked after children services
An Ofsted inspection of Cambridgeshire County Council's safeguarding and looked after children services took place between 14-25 September. The report is now available on the Ofsted website.
The inspection process included focus groups with children and young people, parents and carers and representatives from the Voluntary and Community Sector. A group of pinpoint parents were involved in the parents of disabled children focus group.
The report grades the overall effectiveness of the Council and their capacity for improvement on safeguarding as Grade 3 (Adequate). And grades the overall effectiveness of services for looked after children as Grade 3, and capacity for improvement as Grade 2 (Good). Adequate is defined as "a service that only meets minimum requirements". Good is defined as "a service that exceeds minimum requirements".
The report acknowledges the improved commissioning arrangements in place to ensure the voice of children and young people and parents/carers is heard more effectively. One of the targets within safeguarding is to improve the contribution of children and young people and parents/carers to service development and evaluation within 6 months, and we look forward to working with an increasing number of service managers to achieve this.
