Vetting and barring scheme put on hold
Home Secretary, Theresa May, has announced that the vetting and barring scheme for people working with children and vulnerable adults has been put on hold subject to a full review. Barnardo's chief executive Martin Narey, said "The scheme has the potential to restore parental confidence in the safety of their children and that is paramount. A robust system is needed to ensure effective barriers are in place..." and is concerned the government may be being "rash". Read the article in Children & Young People Now.
