Pinpoint’s Preparing for Adulthood parent group is running an information session about Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
The Mental Capacity Act is designed to protect and empower individuals who may lack the mental capacity to make their own decisions about their care and treatment. The law applies to people aged 16-plus.
DoLS aims to ensure that people in care homes and hospitals are looked after in a way that does not inappropriately restrict their freedom.
The session will provide a general overview and is aimed at parent carers of young people aged 14-25. Meet Phil Carter MCA & DoLS Training & Development Worker to find out more about:
- What MCA & DoLs is
- Where the MCA fits in Human Rights legislation
- What constitutes consent to care and treatment.
- Assessing Capacity – Supported Decision Making
- Best Interest Decision Making
- Restraints & Restrictions, Deprivation of Liberty
It will run from 10am to 12 noon at Tesco Extra’s community room, 15-18 Viking Way, Bar Hill, Cambridge CB23 8EL.
