🌟 Join us at the Pinpoint In-person Conference 2024 🌟

Discover a world of knowledge, support, and inspiration at the Pinpoint SEND Conference.

Join us in a collaborative space where parents, caregivers, and professionals unite to empower and champion children with additional needs. This will be a remarkable chance to gain knowledge and forge connections.

🏢 Location: Burgess Hall, St Ives, PE27 6WU (Virtual Tour of Burgess Hall, this tour is of the building itself, a map with specific locations for stalls and workshops will be given closer to the time or on the day).

🎉 What to Expect 🎉

✨ Welcome: The Mayor of St Ives, the Mayor of Combined Councils, Sarah Conboy (Pinpoint CEO) and Janet Dullaghan (Pinpoint Chair of Trustees) will inaugurate the event, setting the tone for a remarkable day ahead.

✨ Opening Address: Dr Nik Johnson/Bedazzeled/Cambridge Children’s Hospital

✨ Workshops: Choose from a variety of workshops carefully designed to provide practical strategies and advice. Please remember you can only choose one workshop for each timeslot.  See workshop details below.

✨ Marketplace: Explore a vibrant marketplace showcasing valuable resources, services, and products tailored to support children with additional needs.  After feedback from last year’s conference the Market place will open up 30min before the event (9:30am) and close 15 min after the event closes (2:15pm), this will be to give you extra time to be able to visit all the stalls you hoped to.

✨ Lunch will be catered by Tom’s Kitchen during the conference. While we strive to accommodate various dietary preferences, please note that availability is limited and served on a first-come, first-served basis.  We regret that we cannot cater to individual dietary needs. If you have specific dietary requirements, we recommend bringing your own packed lunch for the day to ensure that your needs are met.

✨ Update on the latest developments in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Cambridgeshire County Council with Martin Purbick (Executive Director of Children and Families for CCC) and Kathryn Goose (Head of Children and Young People’s Mental Health Commissioning and Transformation for CCC).

✨ Raffle: Get a chance to win amazing prizes.

Silent Disco Headphones: Experience workshops with ease as we provide silent disco headphones for noise control, ensuring an optimal learning environment for all participants.

Have a look at the coverage in the Hunt’s Post from last year’s conference to see what it will be like.

· Planning for the future of our SEND children – wills and trusts

Money and legalities when we are no longer here, concerns many of us, but where do we start? Steina McKenna from W&P Legal, will be with us to explain what we need to think about and what else we may want to consider. W&P Legal are one of the leading independent estate planning firms in the UK and Steina specialises in this area so will be explaining Wills and Trusts and answering your questions.

· Supporting your child’s sensory needs

Many of our children experience the sensory world around them differently and if not supported properly, this can cause them a lot of anxiety. Claire Ginty from Achieve Occupational Therapy LTD will join us to talk about what we can do to support our child’s sensory needs and how that can help to reduce their anxieties.

· What other help is available for your family?

Many of our children and young people need extra support outside of school and health and might need extra support to be able to fully join in with activities. Josie Lynn and Tapiwa Julius are joining us to talk about the different social care support options for children and young people throughout their journey and what universal support offers are available.

· Autism pathways

Dr Venkat Reddy has been working on the Cambridgeshire Autism pathway for a long time and is here to share an update about the work that has been done so far and what we can expect to happen next.

· SEND transformation update

We know that many things in the system need to be changed to make things work better for our children and young people in order to make sure that more of our children get the right support much earlier in their journey. Becky Salmon and Kirsten Branigan will join us to update about what is happening with SEND transformation and the support that should be available ordinarily within schools for all children.

· Welfare benefits for your family

Are you and your family receiving the benefits you are entitled to? Knowing what to apply for and how to fill out the forms to get the best results can be so tricky. Let Michelle King from Little Miracles explode some of the myths and help you to get what you are entitled to.

· A day in the life of a neurodiverse child

When your child is neurodiverse, so many things about daily life can seem more tricky like getting enough sleep, eating well, managing behaviours and going to the toilet just to name a few! Pinpoint’s very own Sara Basuc will be talking to us about simple things we can change to support our children with these needs to make life a little bit easier as well as where to go for extra help when then little changes don’t have the desired effect.

· Supporting your child with Emotionally Based School Avoidance

For so many of our children, school is not a happy environment and can cause huge amounts of anxiety. This can lead to our children being unable to attend school. But what can we do to support them. Katy Roe from Cambridgeshire’s Educational Psychology team will be joining us to help.
