Situational Mutism is not a choice but a biological reason for silence due to anxiety. Susan Sadek explains what it is and what helps.

What happens when your child appears “fine” in school but is unable to ask for help due to the level of their anxiety? Situational Mutism is not a choice but a biological reason for silence. Clinical Psychologist Dr Susan Sadek with us to explain what is happening in our childs world and offer us strategies and approaches to help our child and where to get additional support.

Pinpoint provide help and information to parents and carers of children and young people aged 0-25 with additional needs and disabilities in Cambridgeshire.

No formal diagnosis is required to access support from Pinpoint – a child may be on a waiting list, accessing services, had a referral turned down, or just be struggling.

We offer signposting and events for all things SEND and are the Parent Carer Forum for Cambridgeshire. Pinpoint also give parent carers opportunities to have a say and get involved in improving local services.

You will be sent an email from Eventbrite containing the Zoom link to access the session 2 days before, 2 hours before and again 10 min before. Please do check your junk mail and spam folders as these emails sometimes end up there!

Be comfortable at Pinpoint sessions – You can keep your camera off and stay on mute and simply join us and other parent carers who “get it” from your sofa 😊
